2020 has been a roller coaster ride of a year. Many things that we look forward to have been drastically altered in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.
The 25th annual WILG convention was no different. This 3-day (typically) in-person convention became a 3-day virtual event.
Roger Finderson, the chair of the Electronic Economy Committee, Co-chair of the Membership Committee, member of the Executive Committee and member of the Board of Directors, took part in this year’s virtual convention. Roger also served as co-chair for the 25th Annual Convention. During the conference, Roger led several discussions within this committee position while speakers were presenting.
According to Roger:
“The 2020 WILG convention took an interesting turn by becoming a virtual conference. After overcoming the disappointment of not being able to meet with colleagues and friends in person, the virtual platform worked quite smoothly.”
He went on to say that the various topics were presented by professionals who were both educational and entertaining.
“We had an open virtual platform to both socialize and network and even have some fun by attending virtual meals, wine and bourbon tastings and escape rooms,” said Roger.
2020’s WILG convention was also special because Roger was recently one of the recipients of WILG’s President’s Award. This honor is given to workers’ compensation attorneys who go above and beyond the call of their profession.
About WILG
For those who are unfamiliar with WILG, the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group is a national organization of lawyers who have dedicated their lives to helping injured workers get the compensation they deserve.
WILG began in 1995 as a way to help ensure injured workers and their families received all the assistance they needed to successfully obtain compensation from work injuries or after developing occupational diseases.
WILG also works with non-profit groups to provide resources (ranging from educational to research) for other attorneys working with injured workers. Another focus of WILG is advocating for workers’ rights. This is achieved through information sharing, as they believe the knowledge one attorney has should be shared with all attorneys for the betterment of American workers everywhere.
While the 2020 WILG conference looked a lot different than the events in the past, Roger Finderson feels that the conference “was a huge success due to the hard work of the planning committee, WILG board and members, and all of our sponsors.
